SKETCHES FROM CHILDHOOD
During the 'Plague Year' of the 2020/21 COVID-19 pandemic, Milan wrote and published a new, extensively-illustrated memoir, "Sketches from Childhood". This depicts his earliest years spent in Czechoslovakia, a period of dramatic political turbulence and immense social upheaval following the Communist Party coup d'état of 1948. His family were soon classed as 'undesirable' and, after several years of virtual house arrest, were finally expelled from their motherland. Milan's book concludes with this ominous sentence: "I shall never cease wondering what is the future that awaits Má Vlast (my homeland)."
English: This limited-edition, hardback A5 volume (224 x 150mm) contains 120 pages and many period monochrome photographs. Digitally produced by expert printers in Germany, on high-quality, 170g matt paper stock, with an attractive, glossy binding, each volume is certified by the author as a limited-edition copy.
